SGVPA Luncheon Poster Presentation Opportunity for Students

To be presented at the SGVPA CE Luncheons

SGVPA invites poster proposals from its student members. Proposals on any research, literature review, or theoretical topic related to the field of psychology will be considered. The student poster presenter will receive free admittance and lunch to the CE luncheon on day of presentation.

What is a poster?

A poster is an excellent way to present your research findings, conceptual model, literature review, or innovative psychological intervention.  Posters presented at the SGVPA luncheon are especially encouraged to help advance professional psychology by presenting information that will improve the practice of psychology.

What does a poster look like?

Key information (brief paragraphs, bulleted outlines, diagrams, tables, graphs) is posted on a sheet of paper, typically in large print to make it easier to read. Posters need to be printed on a single large sheet of paper approximately 24” high x 36” wide. (Do not mount on display boards.) FedEx Office, Staples, or other printing businesses can usually print posters from a PowerPoint file for a reasonable price.

How will the Poster be presented?

Posters can be available for viewing prior to the luncheon.

During the SGVPA speaker presentation, posters will remain standing in room.

After the presentation, presenters will stand by their posters to answer questions and engage in a dialogue with other professionals who are interested in the content.  Be prepared to provide handout summaries of your poster to attendees.

How do I submit a poster proposal?

1. To submit a poster proposal you must be a currentstudent of Psychology or related field and a member of SGVPA. If needed, join SGVPA online at www.sgvpa.org.  One poster proposal per applicant.  One name/author per poster.

2. Email word doc submission of proposals is required.  Contact the SGVPA student poster committee at: [email protected] for an application or download below.  The poster title and abstract (100-word maximum) is required for consideration. Submissions that do not follow the application form and/or are missing information will not be considered.

3. All submissions must be received no later than 6 weeks prior to the SGVPA CEU event.  CE events are the 2nd Friday of the month. No CE event in August. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

Please the SGVPA SPP committee if any clarification is needed. Applicants will be notified within 4 weeks whether their submission has been accepted. Since many proposals are received, not all of them will be selected. Rules for the Poster Session will accompany the acceptance letter.
