Dr. Supatra Tovar
I believe that the main mechanisms for change and growth come from the therapeutic relationship first. My approach is warm, engaging, and empathetic, and is rooted in evidenced-based practice and integrated psychological theory. I strive to foster a trusting relationship and work to co-create a manageable path toward healing, self compassion, and self-actualization. My ideal client is someone who is engaged in his or her healthcare, eager to learn and transform, and someone who desires change in a trusting, compassionate environment. Being a registered dietitian enables me to treat mental and physical health from a holistic framework, and I incorporate intuitive eating, psychodynamic and attachment theory, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). I believe in an integrative approach that is tailored to the client's needs. I have much experience working with those with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, and chronic pain. I work with children and their families, teens, adults and older adults. I work in private practice under the supervision of Dr. Richard LaBrie in Pasadena.
