Annual Lobby Day in Sacramento
When: Tuesday, March 14th 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
What: CPA’s Lobby Day is an exciting opportunity for psychologists and graduate students to learn hands-on techniques for promoting positions on legislation in the Capitol that affect the practice of psychology in our state. CPA then provides an opportunity for participants to talk to directly to their legislators about issues that affect them and their clients.
Who: Every CPA member is encouraged to attend, free of charge. There is no fee for attending and participating.
Where: The Citizen Hotel, 926 J Street, Sacramento—just blocks away from the
Food: CPA will provide a light continental breakfast and lunch to all attendees.
Lodging: Anyone wishing to spend Monday night in Sacramento will be responsible for finding their own hotel arrangements. CPA suggests staying at the Citizen Hotel located in Downtown Sacramento. The hotel is conveniently located at 926 J Street, Sacramento CA 95814 and their phone number is (916) 447-2700. Parking is available at The Citizen Hotel or City of Sacramento lots within blocks of the hotel for $20-28 per day. Unfortunately, CPA is unable to reimburse for any travel or ancillary costs incurred to attend Leadership and Advocacy Day.
What to expect: The day starts at 8:00 am with a continental breakfast and registration at the Citizen Hotel. Beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m., we will be briefed on current issues regarding psychology, provided lobbying training, and then go on to meet, in groups, with legislators and their staffs in the Capitol. For your convenience, all of your appointments will be scheduled by CPA staff. Please dress in business attire, and bring business cards and a camera.
